AI Filmmaking Bootcamp: Storytelling in the Age of Creative AI

This creative course blends synchronous and asynchronous learning to explore the rapidly emerging field of AI-driven filmmaking and video art. Students will learn to integrate artificial intelligence tools—such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, RunwayML, Sora, Suno, and ElevenLabs—into their creative workflows. Through a balance of conceptual exploration and technical mastery, participants will develop a two-minute AI-assisted film or video artwork that synthesizes writing, image, sound, and editing.

Who Should Enroll

This course is open to beginners and established creators in film, video, photography, or digital art who want to retrain and prepare for coming shifts in media and cinema. No technical experience is required—just curiosity and a creative spark.

You will leave with a two-minute AI-generated short film or video artwork, new technical fluency, a reflective understanding of creative AI, and a micro-credential in Experimental Art Practice. This credential is unaccredited, but signifies engagement in a cutting-edge field of creative experimentation.

Dr Brad Necyk, PhD MFA

Brad Necyk is a visual artist, filmmaker, and professor whose work explores the intersection of art, science, and emerging technologies. He is the co-creator of the acclaimed Psychedelic Puppet Show, producing viral AI films that merge philosophy, humour, and digital surrealism.

Brad holds a BFA, MFA, and PhD, with four years of postdoctoral research in Cinema & Media Arts focused on creative applications of artificial intelligence. For the past fourteen years, he has taught digital media, filmmaking, and intelligent systems, helping artists and educators integrate new technologies into their creative practices. His interdisciplinary background brings both technical mastery and conceptual insight, guiding students to imagine—and build—the future of intelligent media.
